CompositionPentab D Tablet is used to manage gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, heartburn, and stomach ulcers, along with nausea and a feeling of fullness. It is a combination medicine containing pantoprazole, which reduces stomach acid, and domperidone, which improves stomach movement, and belongs to a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitor combinations.
This medicine works by reducing the amount of acid made in the stomach, while helping the stomach empty faster to ease nausea and bloating. Take it on an empty stomach, usually 30 to 60 minutes before a meal, and swallow the tablet whole with water. Domperidone is normally used for a short course only, so use it for the duration your doctor prescribes.
Eating smaller, more frequent meals, avoiding spicy, oily, and acidic foods, and not lying down straight after eating can help reduce symptoms. Limiting alcohol and caffeine, avoiding smoking, and keeping a healthy weight can also help.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, a heart rhythm problem, osteoporosis, or low magnesium levels, and about other medicines you take, especially those that affect heart rhythm. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not for use under 18 years of age. Domperidone can affect heart rhythm, so report palpitations or fainting urgently, and get urgent medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, difficulty swallowing, or unexplained weight loss. Long term use of pantoprazole may lower magnesium and vitamin B12 levels and increase the risk of fractures.
