Oratil CV 500 Tablet is a combination antibiotic medicine used to manage and treat severe or resistant bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for infections affecting the lungs (such as pneumonia), urinary tract, bones, joints, throat, sinuses, and severe soft tissue infections.
It contains cefuroxime axetil and clavulanic acid. Cefuroxime is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic that prevents bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, while clavulanic acid stops bacteria from producing enzymes that deactivate the antibiotic, thereby successfully overcoming drug resistance. It must be taken after food.
To support your recovery, ensure you get adequate rest and drink plenty of fluids to stay properly hydrated. It is critically important to complete the entire prescribed course of this medication exactly as directed, even if your symptoms disappear early, to ensure full bacterial clearance.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, or if you have a history of kidney disease or digestive issues. Let your medical team know about all other prescription medications you take. Consult your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
