Omnacortil 5 Tablet is used to treat inflammatory, allergic and autoimmune conditions. It is a single-ingredient corticosteroid medicine containing prednisolone.
This medicine is used in conditions such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, certain skin and eye disorders and nephrotic syndrome, and to help prevent organ transplant rejection. Take it with food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Never stop it suddenly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms and a flare-up of your condition.
Long-term steroid use can weaken bones and raise blood sugar, so eat a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, limit salt and added sugar, and do regular weight-bearing exercise as advised. Avoid close contact with people who have chickenpox or measles, as this medicine can lower your resistance to infection.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, glaucoma, a history of stomach ulcers or any ongoing infection, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report unusual mood changes, blurred vision, swelling of the legs or slow wound healing. Ask your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
