CompositionOflomac-M Suspension is used in children to treat bacterial and parasitic infections, including loose motions (diarrhoea) caused by mixed bacterial infections, as well as infections of the teeth, gut, urinary tract and genital tract. It is a combination medicine containing ofloxacin and metronidazole.
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that works by stopping bacteria from repairing and reproducing their genetic material, while metronidazole targets bacteria and parasites that thrive without oxygen, together clearing a broad range of infections. Give it to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after food; if your child vomits within 30 minutes of a dose, give the same amount again.
Completing the full course, even once your child feels better, helps ensure the infection clears completely and reduces the risk of it returning.
Tell your child's doctor about any history of tendon problems or seizures before starting. If your child develops any side effects, notify the doctor. Continue giving the suspension for the full duration prescribed by the doctor.
