Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 is used in the following condition:

Manage the symptoms of allergic rhinitis
Prevention of allergy-related asthma symptoms when prescribed by a doctor.

Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
It should be taken on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food or fruit juice).
Do not change your dose of Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 or take it more often than prescribed.

Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 is taken orally as a tablet.

The common side effects of Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 include:

Dizziness and drowsiness

Nausea and vomiting

Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 contains the following components:

Bilastine (40 mg): It is an antihistamine that blocks histamine receptors in the body, preventing the binding of histamine, a chemical released during allergic reactions. By inhibiting histamine's effects, bilastine helps reduce sneezing, itching, runny nose, and watery eyes commonly associated with allergic rhinitis.
Montelukast (10 mg): It is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It targets leukotrienes, which are inflammatory compounds released in response to allergens. By blocking the action of leukotrienes, montelukast helps to decrease inflammation in the airways, effectively addressing symptoms like nasal congestion and difficulty breathing associated with allergic rhinitis.

Pregnancy

Pregnant women should not take Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 until prescribed by a doctor. Consult your doctor before taking this tablet during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding mothers should cautiously take Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10. Before taking this tablet while breastfeeding, it is recommended to inform your doctor.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not recommended while taking Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10. It can add to drowsiness, dizziness and tiredness due to this tablet. It can also worsen the side effects of this medication.

Liver

Patients with mild to moderate liver impairment may use Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 with caution. Severe liver disease requires medical supervision.

Kidney

Antibiotics such as erythromycin and rifampicin: The concomitant use with erythromycin may increase bilastine blood levels by inhibiting P-glycoprotein transporters, which can raise the risk of adverse effects. The concomitant use with rifampicin may reduce bilastine levels by inducing drug transporters, potentially decreasing effectiveness.
Sedative hypnotics and anticonvulsants such as phenytoin and phenobarbital: The concomitant use can decrease the blood concentration of this tablet.

Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 can interact with foods, including:

Grapefruit juice: Grapefruit juice or other fruit juices, as the effect of this medicine is reduced when it is taken with the fruit juices.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Montek Bl 40 Tablet 10 can interact with conditions, including:

Severe liver diseases: This medicine can worsen the severity of the liver disease.
