Mazetol SR 200 Tablet is used in adults for the long-term control of epileptic seizures, relief of trigeminal neuralgia pain, and management of mood symptoms in bipolar disorder.

Uses of Mazetol SR 200 Tablet are:

• Epilepsy: Helps control and prevent seizures, including partial and tonic-clonic seizures.
• Trigeminal Neuralgia: Helps relieve severe facial nerve pain.
• Bipolar Disorder: Helps stabilise mood and control manic episodes.

Follow these instructions while taking Mazetol SR 200 Tablet :

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet as it affects the slow-release action.
• Take this medicine at the same time each day for consistent results.
• If you have trouble swallowing, speak with your doctor for advice.

Mazetol SR 200 Tablet is taken orally.

Mazetol SR 200 Tablet contains carbamazepine (200 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Nerve Stabilisation: Carbamazepine reduces abnormal electrical activity in the brain by blocking sodium channels in nerve cell membranes, preventing excessive nerve firing that can lead to seizures.
• Pain Signal Blockage: It interferes with the transmission of pain signals along the trigeminal nerve, helping to relieve the severe facial pain experienced in trigeminal neuralgia.
• Mood Regulation: Carbamazepine helps stabilise mood by decreasing nerve activation in specific areas of the brain responsible for emotional regulation, which is particularly beneficial for people with bipolar disorder.
