Versitol Retard 200 Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Control of epileptic seizures

• Management of tonic-clonic seizures

• Treatment of partial seizures

• Relief of trigeminal neuralgia

• Management of severe facial nerve pain

• Alleviating nerve pain in diabetic neuropathy

Follow these instructions while taking Versitol Retard 200 Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, break or chew the tablet.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• Take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain consistent levels in your body.

• Continue taking this medicine regularly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

Versitol Retard 200 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Versitol Retard 200 Tablet 10 contains Carbamazepine (200 mg), which works on the body in the following ways:

• Stabilises nerve cell membranes: Carbamazepine reduces the excessive electrical activity in your brain by stabilising the outer covering (membrane) of nerve cells, preventing them from firing abnormally.

• Blocks sodium channels: It works by blocking sodium channels in nerve cells, which are tiny pathways that allow sodium to enter the cell. This action helps prevent the rapid and repetitive firing of nerve cells that leads to seizures.

• Reduces pain signal transmission: For trigeminal neuralgia, carbamazepine decreases the ability of the nerve cells in the face to send pain signals, thereby reducing the severe facial pain associated with this condition.

• Prevents seizure spread: It helps prevent the spread of seizure activity from one part of the brain to another, thereby limiting the extent and severity of epileptic episodes.

• Store Versitol Retard 200 Tablet 10 at room temperature.

• Keep the tablets in their original packaging to protect from light and moisture.

• Do not store in the bathroom or other damp places.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Discard any unused or expired medicine properly.

• Do not use the medicine after the expiry date printed on the package.

• For epilepsy management: Avoid excessive caffeine intake (coffee, tea, energy drinks) as it may lower your seizure threshold and potentially reduce the effectiveness of carbamazepine.

• For nerve pain control: Maintain a consistent daily routine with regular mealtimes and sleep patterns, as irregular schedules can sometimes trigger flare-ups of nerve pain conditions like trigeminal neuralgia.
