Mazetol Sr 300 Tablet 15 is used for the following:

• Management of epilepsy

• Control of partial seizures with complex symptoms

• Treatment of generalised tonic-clonic seizures

• Managing mixed seizure patterns

• Relief of true trigeminal neuralgia pain

• Supporting treatment of secondary trigeminal neuralgia

• Stabilising hyperexcited nerve membranes

• Reducing repetitive neuronal discharges

Follow these instructions while taking Mazetol Sr 300 Tablet 15:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew or break the tablet as this affects how it works.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• Use this medicine regularly to maintain steady levels in your body.

• Continue taking this medicine even when you feel well.

• Consult your doctor before stopping this medicine.

Mazetol Sr 300 Tablet 15 is taken orally.

Mazetol Sr 300 Tablet 15 contains carbamazepine (300 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Stabilises Nerve Membranes: Carbamazepine works by stabilising hyperexcited nerve membranes in your brain, preventing the excessive electrical activity that leads to seizures.

• Inhibits Repetitive Neuronal Discharges: It blocks repetitive firing of nerve cells (neurons) in your brain, helping to prevent the spread of abnormal electrical impulses that can trigger seizures.

• Reduces Synaptic Propagation: Carbamazepine decreases the transmission of seizure impulses across the junctions (synapses) between nerve cells, limiting how seizure activity spreads through the brain.

• Limits Pain Transmission: In trigeminal neuralgia, it reduces pain by limiting the repetitive firing of affected nerve fibres that carry pain signals, providing relief from severe facial pain.
