Loxof Oz Tablet is used to treat gastrointestinal infections caused by bacteria and certain parasites sensitive to this medicine, including bacterial diarrhoea and amoebic dysentery.
It is a combination of levofloxacin, an antibiotic, and ornidazole, an anti-parasitic medicine, from the fluoroquinolone and nitroimidazole classes. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, generally with a full glass of water, and complete the full course even if you start feeling better.
Stay well hydrated with oral rehydration solutions or plenty of fluids while you have diarrhoea, and eat plain, easy-to-digest foods such as boiled rice, toast or bananas until your bowel movements return to normal.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor about any history of tendon problems, epilepsy, or liver problems, or if you are taking other medicines. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for a short period afterwards, as ornidazole can interact with it. Contact your doctor if you develop tendon pain, persistent diarrhoea, or blood in your stools.
