Lotel Eye Ointment is a steroid medicine used to treat redness, swelling and irritation in the eyes caused by infection or allergy. It helps reduce inflammation and relieve associated discomfort.
It contains loteprednol, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the eye. Apply it to the affected eye as directed by your doctor. Wash your hands before use, and do not use the ointment if the seal is broken when you first open it.
If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the ointment and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. Avoid touching the tip of the ointment tube to your eye or any other surface, to help prevent contamination.
Tell your doctor if you have a history of glaucoma, eye infections, or other eye conditions before starting this medicine. Prolonged use of steroid eye medicines can raise eye pressure, so your doctor may want to monitor your eyes during treatment. Contact your doctor if your vision changes or your symptoms do not improve.
