It helps thin and loosen mucus so it is easier to cough up, and widens the airways to make breathing easier. Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, a fast or irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, a stomach ulcer, or liver or kidney disease, and about any other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you notice palpitations, marked shaking, worsening breathlessness, or a cough that lasts more than a week or comes with fever. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
