Lamitor DT-50 Tablet is used to manage epilepsy and to help prevent low mood in bipolar disorder in adults. In epilepsy it helps control and reduce the frequency of seizures, and in bipolar disorder it helps stabilise mood over the long term.
It contains lamotrigine, which helps calm overactive electrical signals in the brain. The dose is increased slowly at the start of treatment, so take it exactly as prescribed and do not stop it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures.
Some measures support treatment. Try to keep a regular routine with adequate sleep, take the medicine at the same time each day, and avoid known seizure triggers where possible.
Because lamotrigine can rarely cause a serious skin rash, tell your doctor straight away if you develop any rash, especially in the first weeks of treatment or after a dose increase, or if it comes with fever, blisters, or mouth sores.
