CompositionLamitor OD-50 Tablet is used to manage epilepsy and to help stabilise mood in bipolar disorder in adults. It contains lamotrigine, an anticonvulsant (antiepileptic) medicine.
In epilepsy, it helps control and prevent seizures; in bipolar disorder, it helps prevent extreme mood swings and lengthens the time between episodes. Take it as prescribed, and do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures or a return of symptoms.
Keeping a regular sleep pattern, avoiding known seizure triggers, and limiting alcohol intake support treatment with this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, or a history of skin reactions to other medicines, before starting. Report any skin rash, especially with fever or swollen glands, immediately, as this can rarely be a sign of a serious reaction. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
