Hydreo 500 Capsule 10

HYDREO 500 CAPSULE 10 is used to manage sickle cell anaemia, helping to reduce painful episodes and improve blood flow, and to treat certain cancers such as chronic myeloid leukaemia and some head and neck cancers by slowing the growth of cancer cells.

Uses of Hydreo 500 Capsule are:

• Sickle Cell Anaemia: Helps reduce painful crises and improve blood flow.
• Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia: Used to help manage this blood cancer.
• Head and Neck Cancers: Used to help slow the growth of certain cancers.

Follow these instructions while taking HYDREO 500 CAPSULE 10:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.

• Do not crush, break, or chew the capsule.

• Take it at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.

• Wash your hands after handling the capsules.

HYDREO 500 CAPSULE 10 is taken orally.

HYDREO 500 CAPSULE 10 contains hydroxyurea (500 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• DNA synthesis inhibition: Hydroxyurea blocks an enzyme called ribonucleotide reductase, which is essential for DNA synthesis. This prevents cells from making new DNA, which stops them from dividing and growing.

• Foetal haemoglobin induction: It stimulates the production of foetal haemoglobin (HbF) in red blood cells. Foetal haemoglobin does not undergo sickling, which helps red blood cells maintain their normal shape.

• Cell cycle disruption: Hydroxyurea specifically targets cells that divide rapidly, such as cancer cells, by interrupting their normal growth cycle.

• Blood flow improvement: By preventing red blood cells from becoming sickle-shaped, the medicine helps improve blood circulation and oxygen delivery throughout the body.

• Store HYDREO 500 CAPSULE 10 at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Drink plenty of water (at least 8-10 glasses daily) to support kidney function and help prevent complications of sickle cell disease, as dehydration can trigger painful crises.

• Avoid crowded places and people with contagious illnesses, as hydroxyurea may lower your white blood cell count, making you more vulnerable to infections.
