Herpikind Ointment is used to manage initial and recurrent outbreaks of genital herpes in adults, as well as herpes labialis (cold sores) in adults and children aged 12 years and above. It helps reduce symptoms like itching, burning, and discomfort associated with herpes infections.

Follow these instructions while using Herpikind Ointment:

• Make sure the affected skin area is clean and dry before application.

• With clean hands or a sterile cotton swab, apply the ointment to the affected area.

• The quantity applied should be enough to cover the entire affected area.

• After application, gently massage it onto your skin until it is absorbed.

• Always wash your hands after applying the ointment to avoid spreading infection.

Herpikind Ointment is applied topically.

Herpikind Ointment contains aciclovir (50 mg). It works on your body in the following ways:

• Viral Thymidine Kinase Activation: Aciclovir interacts with an enzyme called viral thymidine kinase (TK), which is produced by HSV and VZV viruses. The enzyme transforms aciclovir and acyclovir monophosphate.

• Conversion into Triphosphate: Your body's natural enzymes further convert aciclovir monophosphate into acyclovir triphosphate.

• Inhibition of Viral DNA Polymerase: Aciclovir triphosphate competes with deoxyguanosine triphosphate, a building block of DNA, for access to viral DNA polymerase. This inhibits the enzyme's activity and prevents the virus from replicating its DNA.

• Termination of Viral DNA Replication: Aciclovir triphosphate also gets incorporated into viral DNA, where it acts as a chain terminator that stops further extension of the DNA strand. This inhibits the proliferation of the virus.

• Store Herpikind Ointment at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 25°C.

• Keep it away from direct light and moisture to maintain its effectiveness.

• Always ensure the cap is tightly closed after every use to prevent air exposure.

• Keep it out of reach of children for safety purposes.
