Composition

Empagliflozin (25 Mg) + Linagliptin (5 Mg)

Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10 is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It falls under a class of medications known as a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor.

This tablet is also used in reducing the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. This combination is considered when treatment with both empagliflozin and linagliptin is appropriate.

This medicine is not recommended for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. It has also not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Before starting treatment, consult your doctor about your complete health profile and any medicines you are currently taking.

Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10 is used for:

Improving glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Swallow the tablet whole with water.
It can be taken with or without food, preferably in the morning.
Do not chew, crush, or split the tablet.
Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding timing and dosage.

Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10 may have the following common side effects:

Urinary tract infections
Nasopharyngitis (common cold-like symptoms)
Upper respiratory tract infections
Increased urination
Skin rash or itching

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary, generally harmless, and resolve upon discontinuing the use of Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Urinary tract infections: Drink plenty of water, maintain good personal hygiene, and contact your doctor if you experience burning sensation during urination.
Abdominal pain or nausea: Take the medicine with food to reduce discomfort and consult your doctor if pain persists.
Dehydration: Increase fluid intake and avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine.

Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10 contains the following components:

Empagliflozin (25 mg): It is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2). It works by blocking SGLT2 in the kidneys, leading to increased removal of glucose through urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Linagliptin (5 mg): It is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It inhibits DPP-4, increasing incretin levels, which help regulate insulin release after meals and decrease glucose production by the liver.

Pregnancy

Empashield L 25/5 Tablet 10 is not recommended during pregnancy as its safety has not been established. Always consult your doctor before use.

Breastfeeding

It is not known whether empagliflozin or linagliptin passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding mothers should avoid use unless specifically advised by a doctor.

Alcohol
