Renopress-XL-5 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure, to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia), and may also be prescribed for other conditions, such as Raynaud's disease. The extended-release form provides a steady effect through the day and night.
It contains prazosin in an extended-release formulation. Swallow the tablet whole as prescribed; do not crush it. To reduce the risk of a sudden drop in blood pressure (especially when standing), take the first dose at bedtime and rise slowly after sitting or lying down.
Staying well hydrated and avoiding prolonged standing or hot baths particularly in the early days of treatment helps reduce dizziness. Your doctor will monitor your blood pressure when starting or adjusting treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any low blood pressure, heart problems, or kidney disease, and about all other medicines you take. Tell your doctor promptly about fainting or a significant drop in blood pressure on standing. Report any unusual mood or mental changes. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
