CompositionLanum Tablet is used to control high blood phosphate levels (hyperphosphataemia) in people with end-stage kidney disease who are on dialysis. It is a single-ingredient phosphate binder medicine.
It reduces the amount of phosphate absorbed from food into the blood, which helps prevent bone disorders and calcium-phosphate deposits in soft tissues and blood vessels. Take it by mouth, usually with meals, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Limit foods high in phosphate, such as packaged and processed foods, cola drinks, cheese and nuts, and follow the kidney diet advised by your doctor or dietitian.
Before starting, tell your doctor about your existing medical conditions and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report persistent nausea, vomiting, constipation, tiredness, confusion or loss of appetite to your doctor. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
