Cetil 500 Tablet is prescribed to treat bacterial infections like tonsillitis, sinusitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and skin infections. It contains cefuroxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic, that works by stopping the growth of bacteria, helping to effectively treat infections and reduce symptoms such as pain, fever, and swelling.

Cetil 500 Tablet has the active ingredient cefuroxime (500 mg), which works on the body in the following way:

• Inhibition of Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: The active component in this medicine inhibits the formation of cell walls in bacteria.
• Prodrug Conversion: Cefuroxime (500 mg) in this medicine is actually a prodrug - a substance that gets converted into its active form within your body. Once ingested, it's absorbed quickly from your gut and broken down into its active form by enzymes present in your intestinal lining and blood.
• Elimination: Post its action against bacteria, it's primarily excreted through your urine. About half of the dose you take is recovered in your urine within 12 hours, helping maintain balance and preventing overdose.

• Keep Cetil 500 Tablet at room temperature.
• Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Always keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
• Use the tablet before the expiry date printed on the pack.

• If you have a respiratory tract infection, drink plenty of fluids to keep your throat hydrated and soothe irritation.
• Cranberry juice might help with urinary tract infections, as it has been found to lower the risk of UTIs.
• For skin and soft tissue infections, maintain good skin hygiene. Regularly wash the affected area with mild soap and warm water.
• In the case of Lyme disease, use protective clothing and insect repellent to avoid further tick bites.
• In case of uncomplicated gonorrhoea or any other sexually transmitted infection, practice safe sex methods such as using condoms to prevent transmission.
• For surgery-related infection prevention, ensure a clean environment post-surgery to minimise exposure to bacteria.
