Ceruvin Af Capsule 15

Ceruvin AF 150 Capsule 15 is used in adults at high cardiovascular risk to help prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and death, including after heart procedures.

Uses of Ceruvin AF 150 Capsule 15 are:

• Stroke Prevention: Helps lower the combined risk of death and non-fatal stroke after an ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack.
• Heart Attack Prevention: Helps reduce the combined risk of death and non-fatal heart attack in people with a history of heart attack or unstable angina.
• Stable Angina: Helps reduce the risk of heart attack and sudden death in people with chronic stable angina.
• Post-procedure Protection: Helps prevent clots after heart bypass surgery or balloon angioplasty.

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the capsule.

Ceruvin AF Capsule is taken orally.

Ceruvin AF Capsule contains two active ingredients that work together to prevent blood clot formation:

• Aspirin (150 mg): Aspirin works by irreversibly inhibiting an enzyme called cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1). This enzyme is responsible for the production of thromboxane A2, which stimulates platelets to stick together. By reducing the production of thromboxane A2, aspirin prevents platelets from sticking together, reducing the risk of blood clot formation.

• Clopidogrel (75 mg): Clopidogrel is a "prodrug", which means it needs to be metabolised by your body to become active. Once metabolised, it prevents the binding of a molecule called adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its receptor on the platelet surface, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation and reducing the risk of blood clot formation.

Together, these two ingredients effectively reduce the risk of blood clot formation, thereby lowering the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events.
