CEFOZYT CV Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract and skin in adults. It combines cefpodoxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic, with clavulanic acid, and is particularly useful for infections caused by bacteria that have become resistant to other antibiotics.
Cefpodoxime works by stopping bacteria from building their protective cell wall, which kills the bacteria, while clavulanic acid blocks an enzyme that some resistant bacteria use to destroy cefpodoxime, extending its effectiveness.
Take this tablet with food at evenly spaced intervals, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and complete the full course even if you feel better early.
Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins. Report persistent loose motions (diarrhoea) during or after treatment.
