Cefolac O Suspension 30Ml

Cefolac O Suspension is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in children, from ear, nose, and throat infections to chest, urinary, and skin infections.

Uses of Cefolac O Suspension are:

• Ear, Nose, and Throat Infections: Treats bacterial infections of the ears, sinuses, and throat.
• Respiratory Infections: Treats chest and lung infections.
• Urinary, Skin, and Other Infections: Treats urinary tract and skin infections, and typhoid fever in children who do not need hospital care.

• Reconstitute the dry syrup by adding 15 ml of sterile water and shake well until all the powder is dissolved. Follow the instructions provided in the package.

• Use a measuring cup or oral syringe to give your child the correct dose, as prescribed by your child's doctor.

• You may give this medicine either before or after meals. If stomach upset occurs, give it with food.

• Ensure to give this medicine at a fixed time each day.

• Remember that this medicine is sugar-based. If your child has diabetes, consult your doctor before giving them this medicine.

Cefolac O Suspension 30ml is given orally.

Cefolac O Suspension 30ml contains two active ingredients:

• Cefixime (50 mg): As a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, cefixime works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins in bacteria. These proteins are crucial for bacterial cell wall synthesis. By disrupting their function, the bacterial cell wall formation is affected, leading to cell lysis and death.

• Ofloxacin (50 mg): Classified as a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, ofloxacin inhibits two critical bacterial enzymes - DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination. By inhibiting these enzymes, ofloxacin disrupts these processes, thereby stopping bacterial growth.

• Store Cefolac O Suspension 30ml powder at room temperature.

• Once reconstituted, store the liquid in the refrigerator and use within 2 weeks of reconstitution.

• Keep the bottle tightly sealed to protect it from moisture.

• Always keep it out of reach from children.

• Ensure you use the medicine before its expiry date.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids to help avoid dehydration, especially if they experience diarrhoea while taking Cefolac O Suspension 30ml.

• Avoid giving your child any food or drink containing calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamins or antacids at least 2 hours before or after administering Cefolac O Suspension 30ml as these might interfere with the medicine's effectiveness.
