Cefinta O Orange Flavour Dry Syrup 30ml is used to manage bacterial infections in children, including typhoid fever, ear, nose, and throat infections, sinusitis, lung and chest infections, urinary tract infections, and skin infections.

Uses of Cefinta O Orange Flavour Dry Syrup 30ml are:

• Typhoid Fever: Manages typhoid fever in children not requiring hospitalisation.
• Ear, Nose and Throat Infections: Treats bacterial infections in these areas, including sinusitis.
• Lung and Urinary Infections: Treats lung, chest, and urinary tract infections.
• Skin Infections: Treats skin and soft tissue bacterial infections.

• Reconstitute the dry syrup by adding 15 ml of sterile water and shake well until all the powder is dissolved. Follow the instructions provided in the package.

• Use a measuring cup or oral syringe to give your child the correct dose, as prescribed by your child's doctor.

• You may give this medicine either before or after meals. If stomach upset occurs, give it with food.

• Ensure to give this medicine at a fixed time each day.

Cefinta O Orange Flavour Dry Syrup 30ml contains two active ingredients:

• Cefixime (50 mg): As a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, cefixime works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins in bacteria. These proteins are crucial for bacterial cell wall synthesis. By disrupting their function, the bacterial cell wall formation is affected, leading to cell lysis and death.

• Ofloxacin (50 mg): Classified as a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, ofloxacin inhibits two critical bacterial enzymes - DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination. By inhibiting these enzymes, ofloxacin disrupts these processes, thereby stopping bacterial growth.

• Store Cefinta O Orange Flavour Dry Syrup 30ml powder at room temperature.

• Once reconstituted, store the liquid in the refrigerator and use within 2 weeks of reconstitution.

• Keep the bottle tightly sealed to protect it from moisture.

• Always keep it out of reach from children.

• Ensure you use the medicine before its expiry date.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids to help avoid dehydration, especially if they experience diarrhoea while taking Cefinta O Orange Flavour Dry Syrup 30ml.

• Avoid giving your child any food or drink containing calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamins or antacids at least 2 hours before or after administering Cefinta O Orange Flavour Dry Syrup 30ml as these might interfere with the medicine's effectiveness.
