Cefolac Oral Drops are used to treat a range of bacterial infections in infants and young children, including infections of the airways, ears, sinuses, and urinary tract.

Uses of Cefolac Oral Drops are:

• Respiratory and ENT Infections: Treats chest infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, sore throat, and middle ear infections.

Cefolac Oral Drops 10ml is given orally.

Cefolac Oral Drops 10ml contain cefixime (25 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis: Cefixime, being a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall. PBPs are enzymes that help in the formation of peptidoglycan, a major structural component of the bacterial cell wall.
• Disrupts cell wall strength and rigidity: By inactivating PBPs, cefixime prevents the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains necessary for cell wall strength and rigidity.
• Leads to bacterial cell lysis: As the cell wall becomes weakened, it becomes susceptible to rupture from osmotic pressure, leading to cell lysis and consequently, death of the bacteria. This bactericidal action of cefixime effectively manages the underlying infection.

• Store the unmixed powder in a cool, dry place.
