CEFOLAC ORAL DROPS 10ML are used for the following:

• Managing respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.
• Managing otitis media, an infection in the middle ear.
• Managing sinusitis, an infection in the sinuses.
• Managing urinary tract infections, which can include infections in the bladder or kidneys.
• Managing uncomplicated gonorrhoea, a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria.

Administer CEFOLAC ORAL DROPS 10ML to your child as follows:

• Use the provided dropper to measure the correct dose of this medicine.
• The drops can be administered directly into your child's mouth or mixed with formula, juice, or water if preferred.
• Ensure you give the full prescribed course of CEFOLAC ORAL DROPS 10ML to your child, even if symptoms improve earlier. This helps prevent the infection from returning.

CEFOLAC ORAL DROPS 10ML is given orally.

CEFOLAC ORAL DROPS 10ML contain cefixime (25 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis: Cefixime, being a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall. PBPs are enzymes that help in the formation of peptidoglycan, a major structural component of the bacterial cell wall.
• Disrupts cell wall strength and rigidity: By inactivating PBPs, cefixime prevents the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains necessary for cell wall strength and rigidity.
• Leads to bacterial cell lysis: As the cell wall becomes weakened, it becomes susceptible to rupture from osmotic pressure, leading to cell lysis and consequently, death of the bacteria. This bactericidal action of cefixime effectively manages the underlying infection.

• Store the unmixed powder in a cool, dry place.
• After mixing, CEFOLAC ORAL DROPS 10ML can be stored either at room temperature or in a fridge.
