Bromex 4 MG Syrup 100 ML is used to treat a productive ("wet") cough where the phlegm is too thick or sticky to be coughed out easily. It is a key therapy for patients with chronic bronchitis or chest infections, helping to "wash out" the airways and reduce the persistent urge to cough that comes from trapped mucus.
This syrup contains Bromhexine Hydrochloride, a mucolytic agent. It works by breaking down the chemical bonds (acid mucopolysaccharide fibers) that make mucus thick and stringy. This transforms the thick phlegm into a thinner, more liquid consistency, which the natural "hairs" (cilia) in your lungs can then sweep out of the respiratory tract much more effectively.
Measure the dose carefully and take it as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken three times a day. Drinking plenty of water while on this medication is essential, as the drug requires water to help liquefy the mucus. Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers, as mucolytics can occasionally irritate the stomach lining.
