BIVAMAX 250 MG INJECTION 1 is used to prevent coronary arterial clots during percutaneous coronary intervention, particularly for patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia or heparin sensitivity where heparin cannot be safely used.
It contains bivalirudin, a direct thrombin inhibitor administered as IV infusion during the procedure by the interventional cardiology team, with continuous anticoagulation monitoring.
This medicine is used exclusively in a cardiac catheterisation labouratory with continuous ECG, blood pressure, and platelet count monitoring.
Before administration, the team reviews renal function (dose adjustment in kidney impairment), bleeding history, and current medicines.
