It is a single-ingredient medicine containing benzonatate, and belongs to a class of medicines called non-narcotic antitussives.
This medicine works by numbing the stretch receptors in the respiratory tract, lungs and pleura, thereby suppressing the urge to cough and making breathing and rest easier. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew, crush, or dissolve it, as numbing of the mouth and throat can occur.
Drink adequate warm fluids and avoid air pollutants or cigarette smoke to help reduce respiratory irritation alongside medication.
