Composition

Dapagliflozin (10 Mg) + Glimepiride (1 Mg) + Metformin (1000 Mg)

Azulix DM 1 Tablet is used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. It is a combination medicine that belongs to the class of anti-diabetic medications.

In addition to helping control blood sugar levels, this medicine is beneficial for patients who have not achieved adequate blood sugar control with single medication therapy along with diet and exercise. It helps manage both fasting and after-meal blood sugar levels, providing comprehensive glycaemic control throughout the day.

This medicine should be taken as directed by your doctor. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications you might be taking. Follow these instructions while taking Azulix DM 1 Tablet:

Take the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.
Take it at the same time each day for best results.

Azulix DM 1 Tablet is taken orally.

Azulix DM 1 Tablet may have the following common side effects:

Genital yeast infections: Burning, itching, soreness, or unusual discharge in the genital area.
Urinary tract infections
Headache
Diarrhoea
Nausea
Vomiting
Hypoglycaemia

Azulix DM 1 Tablet contains three active ingredients:

Dapagliflozin (10 mg): Works by inhibiting a protein called sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) in your kidneys, which prevents glucose reabsorption and increases its excretion through urine, thereby reducing blood sugar levels.
Glimepiride (1 mg): Acts by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin, which is a hormone that helps your body utilise glucose effectively, thus lowering blood sugar levels.
Metformin (1000 mg): Functions by decreasing glucose production in the liver, reducing glucose absorption from the intestines, and improving insulin sensitivity in body tissues, which helps cells use glucose more efficiently.

Caution is advised while taking Azulix DM 1 Tablet if you are pregnant. It is best to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this tablet. Alcohol increases the risk of lactic acidosis (a serious condition affecting blood acid levels) and can lower your blood sugar to dangerous levels when combined with this medicine.

Liver

Kidney

This medicine is contraindicated if you have severe kidney problems or are on dialysis.

CYP2C9 inhibitors: Medicines such as fluconazole and amiodarone can increase glimepiride levels in your blood, raising the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors: Medicines like topiramate and acetazolamide may increase the risk of lactic acidosis (dangerous build-up of acid in your blood) when taken with metformin.
Renal tubular secretion medicines: Cimetidine and ranitidine can interact with metformin, potentially affecting how your body processes the medicine.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Azulix DM 1 Tablet interacts with the following diseases:

Heart failure: This medicine may worsen heart failure symptoms, especially when combined with poor kidney function.
Urinary tract infections: Dapagliflozin may increase the risk of urinary infections due to increased sugar in the urine.
Metabolic acidosis: This medicine can worsen acidosis (too much acid in the body) and is contraindicated for patients with this condition.

Daily Dose

Over Dose
