Amaryl MV 2 Tablet is used in adults with type 2 diabetes to improve blood sugar control, alongside diet and exercise or when treatment with a single medicine is not enough.

Uses of Amaryl MV 2 Tablet are:

Amaryl MV Tablet works effectively thanks to the combined action of three active ingredients:

• Glimepiride (2 mg): As a sulfonylurea, glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin. It achieves this by binding to specific receptors on the pancreatic beta cells. In addition, glimepiride increases the sensitivity of body tissues to insulin, helping them absorb glucose more efficiently.

• Metformin (500 mg): This biguanide-based ingredient works by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver. It also decreases the absorption of glucose from the intestines and enhances the uptake and use of glucose by body tissues. Unlike sulfonylureas, metformin does not cause low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) when used alone.

• Voglibose (0.2 mg): This ingredient is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, which means it slows down the digestion of complex carbohydrates in the small intestine. This action reduces the amount of glucose absorbed into the bloodstream after you eat, helping to prevent a sudden increase in blood sugar levels.
