Metformin (500 mg): This biguanide-based ingredient works by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver. It also decreases the absorption of glucose from the intestines and enhances the uptake and use of glucose by body tissues. Unlike sulfonylureas, metformin does not cause low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) when used alone.
