Valparin Chrono 500 Tablet is used to control seizures in epilepsy and to stabilise mood in bipolar disorder, particularly manic episodes, reducing the frequency and severity of seizures and mood swings.
It contains sodium valproate, an anticonvulsant and mood stabiliser. It works by steadying overactive electrical activity in the brain.
Take it regularly at the same times each day as prescribed, and do not stop it suddenly, as this can bring back seizures or destabilise mood. Regular blood tests check your liver and blood counts.
This medicine can seriously harm an unborn baby and must not be used in pregnancy unless there is no alternative, with an effective pregnancy-prevention plan in place throughout treatment. Tell your doctor about any liver problems before use, and report yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual bruising or severe stomach pain.
