Valparin Chrono 500 Tablet is used to control seizures in people with epilepsy and to stabilise mood in adults with bipolar disorder, particularly during manic episodes. It helps reduce the frequency and severity of seizures and supports long-term mood stability.
It contains sodium valproate. Take it as prescribed by your doctor. It is important to take it regularly and at the same times each day. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as this may cause seizures to return or mood to become unstable. Your doctor will advise you if and how to reduce the dose over time.
Regular blood tests to check liver function and blood counts are usually required during treatment, particularly in the first few months. Your doctor will also review the treatment regularly.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any liver problems or a history of liver disease. Women of childbearing age must be counselled about the serious risk of harm to an unborn baby, and an effective pregnancy-prevention plan must be in place throughout treatment. This medicine must not be used during pregnancy unless no other suitable treatment is available and the risks have been fully assessed. Inform your doctor right away if you become pregnant or plan to conceive.
