Zithrox XL 200 Suspension is used to manage common bacterial infections affecting different body systems in paediatric patients.

Uses of Zithrox XL 200 Suspension are:

• Respiratory & Ear Infections: Helps treat chest infections, bronchitis, and middle ear infections (acute otitis media).
• Skin & Soft Tissue Infections: Treats bacterial skin rashes, boils, and underlying soft tissue infections.
• Genital Infections: Used to manage specific bacterial infections of the reproductive tract where appropriate.

Administer Zithrox XL 200 Suspension to your child as outlined below:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Ensure you measure the exact quantity recommended by the doctor using a spoon or cup provided.

• Remember that this medicine can be given to your child with or without food.

• Continue giving this medicine for the full duration recommended by your doctor, even if your child feels better before the course is complete.

Zithrox XL 200 Suspension is given orally to your child.

Zithrox XL 200 Suspension contains azithromycin (200 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits Bacterial Protein Synthesis: Azithromycin inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to a part of their cells called the 50S subunit of the ribosome. In simple terms, it stops the bacteria from making proteins which they need to survive and grow.

• Prevents Bacterial Growth and Replication: By stopping protein synthesis, azithromycin effectively halts bacterial growth and replication. This means it prevents bacteria from multiplying further in your child's body.

• Store Zithrox XL 200 Suspension in a cool place, ideally not exceeding 25°C.

• Shield the product from light and keep it away from damp areas.

• Ensure the medicine is always out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date on the packaging and avoid using the product beyond this date.

• To support your child's recovery from bacterial infections, ensure plenty of fluids are consumed to prevent dehydration, particularly if diarrhea is a side effect.
