CompositionZithrox XL Suspension is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in children, such as chest, ear, throat and skin infections. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing azithromycin, and belongs to a class of antibiotics called macrolides.
This medicine works by stopping bacteria from growing so the body can clear the infection. Shake the bottle well, measure the dose with the measuring device provided and give it exactly as your child's doctor prescribes, with or without food. Complete the full course even if your child feels better, as stopping early can let the infection return and can lead to antibiotic resistance.
Making sure your child rests well and drinks plenty of fluids such as water, clear soups or oral fluids can help recovery alongside this treatment. Offer light, easy to digest meals, and keep your child away from others while coughing or feverish to prevent spreading infection.
Before giving this medicine, tell your child's doctor if your child has liver, kidney or heart problems, or any known medicine allergies, and about all other medicines your child takes. Antibiotics work only against bacterial infections and do not treat viral infections such as colds and flu. Contact the doctor if symptoms do not improve after a few days, or if your child has severe diarrhoea, a skin rash, swelling of the face or trouble breathing.
