Composition

Fluticasone Furoate (100 Mcg) + Vilanterol (25 Mcg)

Vilmist Capsule 30 is used to help prevent and control breathing symptoms in adults with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is a combination medicine that belongs to the inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and long-acting beta-2 agonist (LABA) classes of medicines.

This medicine is used for the regular management of asthma and COPD symptoms. It helps reduce the frequency of symptom worsening and supports better day-to-day breathing control when used as part of ongoing treatment.

Vilmist Capsule 30 is used for the following:

Long-term treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Prevention and control of symptoms in adults with asthma
Improving breathing and reducing the risk of worsening symptoms (exacerbations)

Use Vilmist Capsule 30 exactly as advised by your doctor.
Use the inhaler at the same time each day, if prescribed once daily.
Do not take more than the prescribed dose.
Rinse your mouth with water after each use and spit it out (do not swallow) to reduce the risk of mouth infection.
Do not stop using the medicine without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.

Vilmist Capsule 30 is taken by inhalation using an inhaler device.

Vilmist Capsule 30 may cause some side effects, such as:

Headache
Sore throat
Runny nose
Hoarseness or voice changes
Cough
Fungal infection in the mouth or throat (oral thrush)
Chest infections (including pneumonia, especially in COPD patients)
Increased heart rate or palpitations

Managing the Side Effects:

Most side effects are mild and improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if any side effect becomes severe or persistent, consult your doctor.

Mouth or throat infection (thrush): Rinse your mouth with water after every use and spit out the water.
Headache: Rest and drink enough fluids.
Hoarse voice or throat irritation: Regular mouth rinsing after inhalation may help.

Vilmist Capsule 30 contains the following components:

Fluticasone furoate (100 mcg): It belongs to the inhaled corticosteroid group. It reduces inflammation and swelling inside the airways, helping to improve breathing
Vilanterol (25 mcg): It belongs to the long-acting beta-2 agonist group. It relaxes the muscles around the airways and helps keep them open for easier breathing.

Pregnancy

Vilmist Capsule 30 should be used during pregnancy only if your doctor feels it is clearly needed. Speak to your doctor about the possible risks and benefits before using this medicine.

Breastfeeding

If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Vilmist Capsule 30. Your doctor will advise whether this medicine is safe for you and your baby.

Alcohol

Alcohol does not directly interact with Vilmist Capsule 30, but excessive alcohol intake may worsen breathing symptoms or overall health.

Liver

Caution is advised while taking Vilmist Capsule 30 if you have liver problems. Dose adjustment may be required in cases of severe liver impairment.

Kidney

No dose adjustment is usually required in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor if you have severe kidney disease.

Using Machines & Driving

Vilmist Capsule 30 may cause dizziness or blurred vision in some people. If this happens, avoid driving, operating machinery, or doing activities that require full concentration until you feel normal again.

Allergy

Do not use Vilmist Capsule 30 if you are allergic to fluticasone furoate, vilanterol, milk proteins, or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Get medical help immediately if you develop a rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing.

Children

Vilmist Capsule 30 is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Older Patients

Older adults may be more sensitive to the effects of Vilmist Capsule 30, especially the risk of chest infections such as pneumonia. Use this medicine under medical supervision and inform your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Vilmist Capsule 30 may interact with the following medicines:

Other LABA-containing inhalers: Using two LABA medicines together can increase the risk of serious side effects and should be avoided.
Antifungal medicines (such as ketoconazole): These may increase the level of Vilmist Capsule 30 in the body and increase the risk of side effects.
Anti-HIV medicines (such as ritonavir): May increase the effects and side effects of this medicine.
Beta-blockers: These may reduce the effectiveness of Vilmist Capsule 30.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Vilmist Capsule 30 should be used with caution in the following conditions, as extra monitoring may be needed:

Heart disease or high blood pressure: This medicine may affect heart rate in some people. If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, your doctor may monitor you more closely during treatment.
Diabetes: In some cases, this medicine may influence blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes, your doctor may advise regular monitoring to ensure good control.

Over Dose

Using more than the prescribed dose of Vilmist Capsule 30 may cause symptoms such as chest pain, a fast or irregular heartbeat, tremors, nervousness, or worsening breathing. If overdose is suspected, contact your doctor for advice.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Vilmist Capsule 30, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take extra doses to make up for the missed one.

Store Vilmist Capsule 30 at a temperature below 25°C.
Keep the medicine in a cool, dry place, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Avoid smoking: Smoking can worsen lung disease and reduce the effectiveness of treatment.
Avoid known triggers: Dust, smoke, cold air, and allergens can worsen symptoms.
Stay physically active as advised: Gentle activity can support lung health if approved by your doctor.
