Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution 5Ml

Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution is used to treat bacterial eye infections and control the inflammation, swelling and redness that can occur with them, including after eye surgery, in adults and children as advised by a doctor.

Uses of Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution are:

• Bacterial Eye Infection: Treats bacterial conjunctivitis and other susceptible eye infections.
• Post-Surgical Care: Reduces inflammation, swelling and discomfort after eye surgery.
• Eye Inflammation: Controls redness, itching and swelling caused by inflammatory eye conditions.

• Ensure your hands are clean before instilling the drops.

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.

• Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out a drop.

• Close your eye and gently press your finger to the corner of your eye near the nose for about 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.

• Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface, to avoid contamination.

• Replace and tighten the cap on the dropper bottle right away after use.

• If you need to instil any other eye medication, wait at least a few minutes before doing so. Always consult your doctor for specific instructions.

Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution 5ml are instilled topically.

Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution 5ml contain two active ingredients:

• Moxifloxacin (0.5%): This is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic that acts against bacteria causing eye infections. It inhibits bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and leading to bacterial cell death. Its broad spectrum of activity is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

• Dexamethasone (0.1%): As a potent corticosteroid, dexamethasone works by suppressing inflammation in your eyes. It inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This action reduces capillary permeability, thus decreasing fluid transudation and reducing swelling or oedema in your eyes.

• Store Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution 5ml in a cool and dry place, ideally below 30°C.

• Do not freeze.

• Keep the bottle tightly sealed to prevent exposure to air and light.

• Ensure the medicine is out of reach of children.

• Since Vigadexa Ophthalmic Solution 5ml are used to manage bacterial eye infections, maintaining good eye hygiene is crucial. Avoid touching your eyes with dirty hands, and regularly clean your eyewear.

• If you've undergone eye surgery, ensure you have a regular sleep pattern. Adequate rest aids in the healing process.
