Tegrital CR 300 Divitabs Tablet is used to control certain types of epileptic seizures and to relieve severe facial nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia). The controlled-release formulation helps maintain steady medicine levels in the body throughout the day, which may help reduce seizure frequency and flare-ups of nerve pain.
It contains carbamazepine 300 mg in a controlled-release form. The Divitab may be halved if necessary but should not be crushed or chewed. Do not stop it suddenly, as abrupt withdrawal may increase the risk of seizures.
Attending all blood monitoring appointments (full blood count, liver function, and sodium levels) is essential for safe long-term use. Avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice, which can increase carbamazepine blood levels.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any blood or bone marrow disorders, liver disease, or known allergy to carbamazepine or similar medicines. Stop immediately and seek urgent medical help if you develop a severe blistering or peeling rash, fever, or sore throat. This medicine interacts with many medicines, including hormonal contraceptives. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
