Valparin 200 Oral Solution is used to manage various types of epilepsy including partial and generalised seizures, to stabilise mood in bipolar disorder, and to prevent migraine headaches. The liquid formulation provides flexible and precise dosing for adults and children for appropriate indications.
It contains sodium valproate 200mg per 5ml. Measure each dose carefully with the provided measuring device and take it with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Do not stop it suddenly, as abrupt withdrawal can cause a rapid return of seizures. Regular blood tests to monitor liver function and medicine levels are an essential part of long-term treatment.
Taking it consistently with food, attending all blood monitoring appointments, avoiding alcohol, and keeping all neurology appointments support management alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any liver problems, family history of liver disease, pancreatitis, or other medicines. Women of childbearing age must use effective contraception throughout treatment, as sodium valproate causes serious birth defects including neural tube defects. Do not stop without medical advice.
