Valparin 200 Oral Solution is used to control epilepsy (partial and generalised seizures), to stabilise mood in bipolar disorder, and to help prevent migraine. The liquid form allows flexible dosing for adults and children.
It contains sodium valproate, an anticonvulsant and mood stabiliser. It works by calming overactive nerve signals in the brain.
Measure each dose carefully with the device provided, take it with or after food, and do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause seizures to return quickly. Regular blood tests are an essential part of treatment.
Women and girls who can become pregnant must use effective contraception throughout treatment, as sodium valproate can cause serious birth defects. Tell your doctor about any liver problems, and report severe stomach pain, unusual bruising, or yellowing of the skin.
