CompositionEncorate Tablet is used to manage epilepsy by stabilising nerve activity in the brain to prevent recurrent seizures. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing sodium valproate, and belongs to a class of medicines called anticonvulsants.
This medicine is also used to help stabilise mood in bipolar disorder and to help prevent migraine attacks. Take it with food exactly as directed by your doctor. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
A regular daily routine with good sleep, a balanced diet and avoiding alcohol help support treatment alongside this medicine.
This medicine can seriously harm an unborn baby and must not be used in pregnancy unless there is no suitable alternative and a pregnancy-prevention plan is in place, so discuss reliable contraception with your doctor. Tell your doctor about any liver problems before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe stomach pain, unusual bruising, or new or worsening low mood, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or unless your doctor advises you to do so, as this can trigger seizures or a return of symptoms.
