CompositionEncorate 200mg/5mL Syrup is used to prevent and manage various types of seizures in adults and children with epilepsy. It is a single-ingredient anticonvulsant containing sodium valproate.
It is also used to help stabilise mood in the manic phase of bipolar disorder and to help prevent migraine headaches. Measure each dose with the cup provided and take it at the same time each day, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures.
Keep a regular routine with enough sleep and consistent meal times, and avoid alcohol, which can add to drowsiness and strain on the liver.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any liver problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine can seriously harm an unborn baby, so it must not be used in pregnancy, and women who could become pregnant need specialist counselling and reliable contraception. Report unusual bruising or bleeding, persistent vomiting or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
