CompositionTufehart 500mg Injection 10ml is an intravenous iron medicine used to manage iron deficiency anaemia in people who cannot tolerate oral iron supplements or have not responded satisfactorily to them. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ferric carboxymaltose, and belongs to a class of medicines called intravenous iron replacement products.
This medicine works by replenishing the body's iron stores, which are needed to make haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. It is given into a vein by a doctor or healthcare professional in a clinical setting, where you are usually monitored afterwards, at the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Including iron-rich foods such as green leafy vegetables, dal, beans and dried fruit in your diet, and attending the follow-up blood tests your doctor advises, supports your recovery alongside this treatment.
Before receiving this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to intravenous iron, or if you have liver disease, an active infection or are in the first trimester of pregnancy, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Tell your care team straight away about unusual tiredness, palpitations, breathlessness or signs of an allergic reaction during or after the infusion.
