Orofer FCM Injection is used to treat iron-deficiency anemia when oral iron tablets are ineffective, cause severe stomach issues, or when iron levels need to be raised rapidly (such as before major surgery). It restores the body's iron stores and increases hemoglobin levels, helping to resolve symptoms like extreme fatigue, pale skin, and shortness of breath.
This injection contains Ferric Carboxymaltose, a complex iron molecule that allows for a large dose of iron to be delivered directly into the bloodstream in a single session. Unlike older iron injections, FCM is designed to release iron slowly and safely, mimicking the body's natural iron-handling proteins, which minimizes the risk of sudden toxicity.
This medication is administered only by a healthcare professional as an intravenous (IV) infusion. You will be monitored for at least 30 minutes after the infusion for any signs of an allergic reaction. Inform your doctor if you have any history of asthma or liver disease. After the injection, your doctor will schedule a blood test in a few weeks to check your updated hemoglobin levels.
