Orofer FCM Injection is used to treat iron-deficiency anaemia when iron tablets do not work, cause severe stomach problems, or when iron levels need raising quickly, such as before major surgery. It restores the body's iron stores and raises haemoglobin, easing extreme tiredness, pale skin and breathlessness.
It contains ferric carboxymaltose, a form of iron that allows a large dose to be given into the bloodstream in a single session, releasing iron slowly and safely.
It is given by a healthcare professional as an intravenous infusion, after which you are monitored for at least 30 minutes.
Tell your doctor about any history of asthma or liver disease before treatment. Your doctor will check your haemoglobin with a blood test a few weeks later.
