Orofer Fcm Injection 10ml

Orofer FCM Injection is used in the management of the following:

• Iron deficiency anaemia in adults

• Anaemia in teenagers over 14 years who cannot tolerate oral iron supplements

• Iron deficiency in patients who do not respond to oral iron therapy

• Iron levels when needed urgently

• Iron deficiency anaemia associated with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease

Orofer FCM Injection is administered as advised below:

• This injection is intended for intravenous use only and must be administered by a trained healthcare professional.

• The medicine should be used immediately after opening the vial.

• Discard any unused portion of the medicine after use.

• Always check the vial for sediments before use. If visible, do not use it and consult your doctor.

Orofer FCM Injection is administered intravenously.

Orofer FCM Injection contains ferric carboxymaltose (500 mg), which acts on the body as follows:

• Iron Complex Uptake: Ferric carboxymaltose is an iron complex that, once administered intravenously, is taken up by reticuloendothelial system cells located in the liver, spleen, and bone marrow.

• Iron Release: This complex then releases bioavailable iron which binds to a protein called transferrin. This protein transports the iron throughout the body.

• Red Blood Cell Production: The transported iron is then incorporated into haemoglobin in new red blood cells being produced in the bone marrow. Haemoglobin is crucial as it helps these red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body. This replenishes depleted iron stores and promotes effective erythropoiesis (the development process of mature red blood cells).

• Store Orofer FCM Injection at a temperature below 30°C.

• Keep the injection in its original packaging to protect it from light.

• Avoid freezing the injection, and ensure it is not exposed to high heat or moisture.

• Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before administering the injection, and do not use it past this date.

• Since iron deficiency anaemia can be affected by diet, include more iron-rich foods in your meals. These could be red meat, fortified cereals, leafy green vegetables, or pulses like lentils and beans.

• Regular exercise can help improve your overall health and circulation, making it easier for your body to absorb and utilise the iron from Orofer FCM Injection. But remember to consult your doctor before starting any new exercise regimen.
