Trex Tablet is used to manage severe, active rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It is a single-ingredient antimetabolite and disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) containing methotrexate (2.5 mg).
It is also used for polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children, severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and certain cancers. For autoimmune conditions it is usually taken once a week, never every day, so follow your doctor's schedule exactly and take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Avoid alcohol, take any folic acid supplement prescribed by your doctor, and attend all blood test appointments to check your blood, liver and kidneys.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or blood problems and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and effective contraception is needed during treatment and for a period after stopping. Report mouth sores, unusual bruising or bleeding, persistent nausea, breathlessness or yellowing of the skin or eyes right away. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
