TIKOPREX ER 500 MG Tablet 10 is a medicine used to treat and manage epileptic seizures (fits) and to stabilize mood changes in conditions such as bipolar disorder. It is also prescribed to prevent migraine headaches.
It contains divalproex sodium, which works by increasing the levels of a natural calming chemical (GABA) in the brain. This reduces excessive and abnormal electrical activity in nerve cells, preventing seizures and keeping mood swings under control.
Take this tablet regularly at the same time each day with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet; swallow it whole. It is critical not to stop taking this medicine suddenly, as doing so can trigger continuous, severe seizures.
Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney problems, a family history of urea cycle disorders, or are taking other medicines. It can cause serious harm to an unborn baby, so it requires strict monitoring if used during childbearing age.
