Composition

Atenolol (50 Mg) + Chlorthalidone (12.5 Mg)

Tenoric 50 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines Atenolol, a beta-blocker, and Chlorthalidone, a diuretic, to lower blood pressure by slowing the heart rate and eliminating excess fluid from the body. This combination helps reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Before initiating the use of this tablet, disclosing any existing liver or kidney conditions to your doctor is essential. Additionally, inform your doctor if you have asthma, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, thyroid issues, a history of dehydration, or low levels of sodium, potassium, or magnesium in your blood as a precautionary measure.

Tenoric-50 Tablet is used in:

Management of hypertension

Swallow the entire tablet without crushing or breaking it.
Take it with or without food, but it is recommended at a fixed daily time for better results.

Tenoric-50 Tablet is taken orally.

The common side effects of Tenoric-50 Tablet include:

Dizziness
Decreased appetite
Constipation
Stomach upset

Managing the Side Effects:

Tenoric-50 Tablet contains the following components:

Atenolol (50 mg): It is a beta blocker that reduces the heart rate and the force of heart contractions, leading to decreased blood pressure and cardiac workload.
Chlorthalidone (12.5 mg): It is a diuretic that eliminates excess salt and water from the body. This reduces fluid volume and subsequently lowers blood pressure.

Pregnancy

Tenoric-50 Tablet is not advisable for use in pregnant women, as it may pose a significant risk to the developing fetus. Hence, it's vital to consult your doctor before considering this medication if you are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or plan to become pregnant.

Breastfeeding

Before taking the Tenoric-50 Tablet, consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as it is not advisable for use in lactating women.

Alcohol

It is advisable to avoid alcohol if you are taking Tenoric-50 Tablet.

Liver

Drug-Drug Interactions

Tenoric-50 Tablet may interact with the following medications, including

Barbiturates such as primdone can cause orthostatic hypotension when taken with this tablet.
Opiods such as codeine can cause orthostatic hypotension when taken with this tablet.
Anaesthetic agents such as isoflurane can produce a hypotensive state with associated reflex tachycardia when taken with this tablet.
Antiarrhythmic agents such as amiodarone may have a potentiating effect on atrial-conduction time and induce a negative inotropic effect when taken with this tablet.
Antihypertensive peripheral vasodilators such as pentoxifylline can decrease blood pressure further when taken with this tablet.
Calcium channel blockers like amlodipine can cause severe hypotension, bradycardia and cardiac failure when taken with this tablet.
Digitalis glycosides such as deslanoside may potentiate the bradycardia of beta-blockade when taken with this tablet.
Antidepressants such as lithium can cause toxicity when taken with this tablet.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents such as ibuprofen may blunt the antihypertensive effects of this tablet.
Thiazides such as norepinephrine may decrease arterial responsiveness when taken with this tablet.
Rauwolfia alkaloids such as reserpine or guanethidine may produce an excessive reduction of sympathetic activity when taken with this tablet.

Tenoric-50 Tablet can interact with conditions/diseases, including

Renal dysfunction: This tablet can cause complications when you have renal dysfunction.
Bradyarrhythmia: This tablet can cause increased arrhythmia.
Cardiogenic shock: This tablet can increase the risk of cardiogenic shock.
Congestive heart failure: This tablet can increase the risk of heart failure.
Ischemic heart disease: This tablet can worsen the disease.
Peripheral vascular disease: This tablet can aggravate peripheral vascular disease.
Liver disease: This tablet can worsen the disease.

Daily Dose

The daily dose of this tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the age, severity of the condition and response to treatment.

Over Dose

In case of an accidental overdose of this tablet, seek immediate medical attention by contacting your doctor or visiting the nearest hospital.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, avoid repeating the dose.

Tenoric-50 Tablet should be stored at room temperature, at 25°C.
Please protect it from light and moisture.
Keep away from children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

Regular physical activity, such as brisk walking, swimming, or cycling. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity weekly exercise to help lower blood pressure.
Practice stress-reduction techniques like meditation, deep breathing exercises, or yoga to manage stress, which can contribute to hypertension.
Reduce alcohol consumption and cut back on caffeine, which can influence blood pressure. Limit alcohol to moderate levels and avoid excessive caffeine intake.
