Suminat 25 Tablet is used for the acute treatment of migraine headaches and associated symptoms in adults to help restore normal daily functioning during an attack.

Uses of Suminat 25 Tablet are:

• Acute Migraine Relief: Relieves severe, throbbing headache pain during an active migraine attack.
• Associated Migraine Symptoms: Alleviates accompanying symptoms such as feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, and sensitivity to light (photophobia) or sound (phonophobia).

Here's how you should take Suminat 25 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet before swallowing.

Suminat 25 Tablet contains sumatriptan (25 mg) and it works on your body in the following ways:

• Selective 5-HT1 Receptor Agonism: Sumatriptan selectively binds to 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors, which are types of serotonin receptors. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a crucial role in pain signalling and mood regulation in the brain.

• Vasoconstriction: By binding to these receptors, sumatriptan causes constriction (narrowing) of the blood vessels in the brain. This action helps to alleviate the throbbing pain of a migraine headache.

• Inhibition of Pro-Inflammatory Neuropeptide Release: Sumatriptan also inhibits the release of certain chemicals known as pro-inflammatory neuropeptides from the sensory nerves of the trigeminal system (a nerve system in the head and face). This helps to reduce inflammation and pain associated with migraines.
