Sumitop 25 Tablet 10 is used for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. It belongs to the class of selective serotonin receptor agonists, also known as triptans.

This medicine helps relieve migraine symptoms such as throbbing headache, nausea, sensitivity to light, and sensitivity to sound. It works during a migraine attack and is not intended for the prevention of migraine attacks or for the management of other types of headaches.

Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Inform your doctor before starting treatment if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, a history of stroke, liver disease, seizures, circulation problems, or are taking other medicines. Take the medicine only during a migraine attack and do not exceed the recommended dose. If the first dose does not help your migraine attack, consult your doctor before taking another dose.

Sumitop 25 Tablet 10 is used to:

Manage acute migraine attacks with or without aura
Help relieve migraine-associated nausea
Reduce sensitivity to light and sound during migraine attacks
Help relieve throbbing migraine headache symptoms

Follow these instructions while taking Sumitop 25 Tablet 10:

Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Take the medicine at the first sign of a migraine attack.
Do not crush, split, or chew the tablet unless advised by your doctor.
Do not take more doses than prescribed within 24 hours.
Do not take this medicine regularly to prevent migraines unless advised by your doctor.

Sumitop 25 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Sumitop 25 Tablet 10 may cause side effects such as:

Dizziness
Nausea
Drowsiness
Tingling sensation
Feeling of heaviness or pressure in the chest, throat, or neck
Fatigue

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing Sumitop 25 Tablet 10. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of symptoms, consult your doctor.

Here are a few tips that may help:

Dizziness: Sitting or lying down for some time may help reduce dizziness or light-headedness.
Nausea: Taking the medicine with a light meal or snack may help reduce nausea or stomach discomfort in some individuals.

Pregnancy

Sumitop 25 Tablet 10 should be used during pregnancy only if advised by your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy before starting treatment.

Breastfeeding

Use this medicine with caution during breastfeeding. Sumatriptan may pass into breast milk. Your doctor may advise a temporary interruption of breastfeeding after taking the medicine if required.

Alcohol

Alcohol may worsen dizziness, drowsiness, or migraine symptoms in some individuals during treatment with Sumitop 25 Tablet 10. Avoid excessive alcohol intake during migraine treatment.

Liver

Take this medicine with caution if you have liver disease. Patients with mild to moderate liver impairment may require lower doses. This medicine is not recommended in severe liver impairment.

Kidney

Ergot-containing migraine medicines (e.g., ergotamine, dihydroergotamine): Taking these medicines within 24 hours of sumatriptan may increase the risk of severe blood vessel narrowing, chest pain, or circulation-related complications. Doctors usually advise avoiding combined use within 24 hours.
Other triptan medicines (e.g., rizatriptan, zolmitriptan): Using multiple triptan medicines close together may increase the risk of vasospasm, chest tightness, or serious cardiovascular side effects. Doctors generally advise avoiding use within 24 hours.
