Spiromide Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing fluid retention in congestive heart failure

• Reducing fluid build-up due to liver cirrhosis with ascites

• Managing oedema in kidney disorders such as nephrotic syndrome

• Serving as an adjunctive medication for mild to moderate essential hypertension

Here are some guidelines on how to take Spiromide Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has instructed.

• Do not stop taking Spiromide Tablet without first consulting your doctor.

Spiromide Tablet is taken orally.

Spiromide Tablet comprises two active ingredients that work together to reduce fluid overload in your body:

• Frusemide (20 mg): Acting as a loop diuretic, frusemide inhibits the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the ascending loop of Henle and distal renal tubule in your kidneys. This action leads to increased urine production and promotes the excretion of these electrolytes and water.

• Spironolactone (50 mg): As a potassium-sparing diuretic, spironolactone blocks the effects of the hormone aldosterone by binding to its receptors. This reduces sodium reabsorption while increasing water excretion, but it retains potassium.

Together, these two diuretics enhance efficacy in removing excess fluid from your body while maintaining a balance of important electrolytes like potassium.
