Composition

Drotaverine (80 Mg) + Mefenamic Acid (250 Mg)

Spasmindon N Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat abdominal pain, muscle cramps, and digestive discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), biliary colic, renal colic, and painful menstruation (dysmenorrhoea).

It contains drotaverine, an antispasmodic that relaxes smooth muscles, and mefenamic acid, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation. Together, they relax smooth muscles in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts while reducing pain-causing chemical messengers. Take it with food as prescribed by your doctor.

Eating smaller, frequent meals, avoiding trigger foods, and maintaining hydration can help manage gastrointestinal cramps and irritable bowel symptoms alongside medicine.

Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you have stomach ulcers, kidney or liver conditions, severe asthma, or cardiovascular problems. Do not take other anti-inflammatory pain relievers simultaneously without medical advice.

Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
Avoid breaking, crushing, or chewing the tablet.

Spasmindon N Tablet contains two active ingredients:

Drotaverine (80 mg): Drotaverine works as an antispasmodic agent which acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase 4. By inhibiting this enzyme, it prevents the breakdown of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Higher levels of cAMP result in lower levels of calcium inside cells, leading to the relaxation of smooth muscles in your body. This results in relief from spasms and pain.
Mefenamic Acid (250 mg): Mefenamic acid belongs to a class of medicines known as NSAIDs. It helps manage pain by blocking the production of chemicals called prostaglandins, which are released by injured cells, causing pain, inflammation and fever. By inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, mefenamic acid reduces contractions in the smooth muscles, decreases inflammation and alleviates pain in the abdomen.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, it is wise to exercise caution with Spasmindon N Tablet. Discussing this with your doctor before starting the medication is best.

Breastfeeding

The safety of Spasmindon N Tablet for lactating women remains unestablished. Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor.
