Sompraz 20 Tablet is used to manage conditions related to excess stomach acid production.

Uses of Sompraz 20 Tablet are:

• GERD, Heartburn, and Acid Reflux: It prevents stomach acid from flowing back up into the food pipe to relieve burning sensations.
• Erosive Esophagitis: It lowers acid levels to allow the inflamed and damaged lining of the food pipe to heal.
• NSAID-Induced Gastric Ulcers: It protects the stomach lining and prevents ulcers caused by regular painkiller use.
• Helicobacter pylori Eradication: It works with antibiotics to help completely eliminate this specific ulcer-causing bacterial infection.
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: It controls the extremely high amounts of stomach acid produced by rare tumors.

Here's how you should take Sompraz 20 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not chew, crush or break the tablet.

• It's best to take this medicine on an empty stomach, at least an hour before eating.

Sompraz 20 Tablet contains esomeprazole (20 mg), which acts on your body in the following ways:

• Blocks Gastric Proton Pump: Esomeprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting an enzyme system called the hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase (H+/K+ ATPase), also known as the gastric proton pump. This enzyme system plays a crucial role in the secretion of stomach acid.

• Reduces Stomach Acid: By blocking the activity of the gastric proton pump, esomeprazole effectively reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. This reduction in stomach acid helps provide relief from symptoms and promotes healing of acid-related conditions.

• Keep your Sompraz 20 Tablet at room temperature, ideally not exceeding 30°C.

• Protect it from light and moisture to maintain its effectiveness.

• Always ensure it is stored in an area inaccessible to children.

• Make a note of the expiry date on the package, and do not use the medicine beyond this date.

• If you are managing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with Sompraz 20 Tablet, try reducing your intake of spicy and oily food; these can exacerbate acid reflux symptoms.

• Regular, mild exercise can aid digestion and reduce the frequency of GERD symptoms. However, avoid heavy workouts or exercises that involve bending over or lying down shortly after meals as this can trigger heartburn.
