CompositionRosuvas 5 Tablet 15 is used to lower high cholesterol and triglycerides and reduce the risk of heart disease. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing rosuvastatin 5mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors).
This medicine is also used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people at high risk of heart disease. The 5mg strength is often used as a starting dose, including in people of Asian origin, older adults and those with kidney problems. Take it at the same time, with or without food, and keep taking it as prescribed, even when you feel well.
A diet low in saturated fat and rich in fruit, vegetables and whole grains, regular physical activity, keeping a healthy weight and limiting alcohol support better cholesterol control.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, an underactive thyroid, muscle problems, diabetes, or drink a lot of alcohol, and about other medicines you take, especially other cholesterol medicines, ciclosporin, HIV medicines or blood thinners. Your doctor may check your liver and cholesterol with blood tests. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine, straight away. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
