Recovorin 15 MG Injection 2 ML is used for the following:

• Reducing toxic effects of high-dose methotrexate therapy

• Rescue therapy following methotrexate cancer treatment

• Enhancing effectiveness of 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy

• Protection of healthy cells during cancer treatment

• Managing megaloblastic anaemia due to folate deficiency

• Supporting DNA synthesis in cells affected by chemotherapy

• Counteracting folate antagonist overdose

• Providing reduced folate for cellular functions

• Bypassing blocked folate pathways in cancer treatment

Recovorin 15 MG Injection 2 ML is given intravenously or via an intramuscular route.

Recovorin 15 MG Injection 2 ML contains calcium folinate (15 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Reduced folate supplementation: Calcium folinate provides an active form of folic acid that doesn't require enzymatic reduction by dihydrofolate reductase to participate in vital cellular processes.

• Methotrexate toxicity protection: It bypasses the metabolic block caused by methotrexate by entering cells and providing reduced folates needed for DNA synthesis and cell survival.

• Cell rescue mechanism: When given after methotrexate, it allows for continued production of purines and thymidylate (essential building blocks for DNA) in healthy cells while preserving methotrexate's anti-cancer activity.

• Enhancement of 5-fluorouracil activity: It stabilises the binding of 5-fluorouracil to its target enzyme (thymidylate synthase), thereby potentiating its anti-tumour effects in combination therapy.

• Store Recovorin 15 MG Injection 2 ML at room temperature.

• Keep the vials protected from light.

• Consume a folate-rich diet including leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, and beans, which can support your body's natural folate levels during treatment.
