Rcifax Oral Suspension is primarily used to manage infectious diarrhoea caused by non-invasive strains of Escherichia coli. This oral antibiotic belongs to the rifamycin class of medicines.
Rifaximin acts mainly within the gut, killing the bacteria responsible for infectious diarrhoea, including traveller's diarrhoea, without being significantly absorbed into the rest of the body.
Give this suspension to your child using the measuring cup provided, at the dose your child's doctor prescribes based on age and weight, with or without food.
Tell your child's doctor if your child has severe liver disease before starting this medicine. Report any worsening diarrhoea, fever, or blood in the stool, as this needs medical review.
