Rcifax Oral Suspension is primarily used to manage infectious diarrhoea caused by non-invasive strains of Escherichia coli. This oral antibiotic belongs to the rifamycin class of medicines.
Apart from managing infectious diarrhoea, it is also effective in preventing the recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy and managing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D). However, it's important to note that this medicine is not recommended for diarrhoea that's complicated by fever or blood in stools, or caused by pathogens other than E. coli.
Before starting this medicine, it's crucial to consult your doctor about the appropriate dosage and frequency. Make sure you inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications you're giving your child. If your child experiences any side effects while on this medicine, notify the doctor immediately. It's important to continue giving this medicine for the prescribed duration for optimal results.
